May 2023 Update

With last season now a distant memory and the 2023/24 season on the horizon, we as a Board of Directors felt this time would be appropriate to share an update with you from Hartsdown Park.

This week has seen the new Changing Rooms enter the final stage of development with the external cladding starting to be placed on the new builds. This cosmetic aspect to the changing rooms will add an additional look to the already impressive internal finish.

Recruitment continues to be led by Reece and Ben and we are pleased that we have a squad being assembled that we hope will see much more progression on last season’s disappointing 17th place in the Isthmian Premier Division. As well as retaining Sam Blackman, Harry Hudson and Harrison Hatfull, we are delighted to welcome Tyrone Sterling, Fyn Rutherford and Damian Niemczycki to the club. Both Reece and Ben continue to work on further signings as we approach our first friendly against Deal Town on Saturday 8th July 2023.

We wish to update supporters on various online comments regarding the postponement of this season’s Thanet Cup against Ramsgate.

As always our pre-season friendly schedule is led by the management team who looked to start arranging their schedule once appointed on the 10th April. At the time it was our belief that Ramsgate would win promotion into the same division and therefore we would not wish to participate in a friendly against a side in our own division. Ramsgate did not achieve promotion, however we already had verbal agreements in place with other sides.

We communicated to Ramsgate on 30th April that we had arranged our schedule and therefore were not looking to participate in the fixture. We wish Ramsgate well for the 2023/24 season.

Our annual 3G pitch test was carried out on Monday, further works are scheduled in the coming weeks to ensure we have the best 3G playing surface in Kent.

All shareholders should now have received notice of the AGM which will be held at Margate FC on Thursday 22nd June 2023, any shareholder that has not received notice should contact our Secretary Alan Anstice on secretary@margate-fc.com.

Our application for the redevelopment of the five-a-side facility is now with the Football Foundation and we hope to have further news on this in the coming weeks.

We are excited to get the 2023/24 season underway and hope it is a successful season for all teams that play in the blue of Margate.
