Phil Roberts returns to the ‘Gate for another season to add depth up top and as part of our coaching staff as Phil takes up a player/coach role for the 2023/2024 season. Phil began his career on the books of Arsenal and Norwich City before leaving England for Scotland to play for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Dundee, Alloa Athletic and Falkirk. Phil returned to England to play in non-league with Braintree Town where he managed a return of 17 goals from 30 games during the 2017/2018 season. Phil is a well-travelled player as he also had short stints with Dartford, Wealdstone, Hayes and Yeading, Romford, Welling, Brentwood, Chelmsford and most recently with Farnham Town before linking up at Hartsdown park in January 2023. Phil has also represented his Ireland at youth level netting four times at two different age groups.
