Our under 15's started the new season in the same vein that they finished the last one in with a convincing victory over last years league runners up Folkestone Invicta . The 6-1 victory was achieved by a superb all round team effort with the six goals coming 3 in each half, all from different scorers
The prolific Shane Mitchell got the ball rolling when bravely getting between defender and keeper to head the ball over the keeper into the net , Connor Lintott added the second on his Margate debut via a deflection, and then a mazy run from Harvey Colston going past 4 defenders before putting in Connor Armstrong to smash home the third. FI then hit back with a well worked goal and at half time they must have thought they were back in it .
The second half was all Margate, their football becoming increasingly assured , Connor Barham headed the forth from a corner and when Tre' Mitford capped a fine debut with a quality finish to a slide rule pass from Ryan Freedman it really was effectively game over . Daniel Gregory- Davis added the sixth with a top corner strike from 15 yards and 2 or 3 other good chances going astray could not detract from a great team performance . Josh Mattless had a reasonably quiet time in the Margate goal but made one unbelieveable save in the first half at full stretch to keep FI at bay.
The squad was Josh Mattless , Connor Barham , Nick Symaka , Daniel Osgood ( Debut ) , Ollie Sharpe , James Olver , Ryan Freedman , Shane Mitchell , Daniel Gregory-Davis , Jamie Gregory-Davis , Connor Lintott ( Debut ) , Tre' Mitford ( Debut ) , Connor Armstrong , Harvey Colston and Captain Alex Miles.

Both sides battled well in this, the last friendly match before both sides start their league campaigns but the un13s had the majority of the possession and thus the most efforts on goal.
Lewis Stevens and Dan Beresford were controlling the centre of midfield from the start, Lewis put a nice through ball, forward, for centre forward Lee Mills to chase and earned an early corner in the 6th min, two minutes later Alan Dhami, up front with Lee, hit the crossbar as he tried to lob the keeper.
The next ten minutes saw both sides battle it out and come to a stalemate as both defences held firm untill the un13s broke the deadlock on 17 mins as Lewis slid a great ball through the un13sA defence to Alan Dhami who lobbed the keeper.
The un13s back four were coping well and were intelligently passing back to the keeper for him to clear when necessary.
Lee and Alan combined well in the 25th min to make it 2-0 when Alans good work and pass across the goal was poked in by Lee at close range, in the next minute Lewis saw his long range effort sail over the bar.
On 28 mins Lee scored the goal of the game after some good work down the left and rifling in a great shot into the bottom right hand corner to make the score 3-0. Lee had another shot but this time it was well saved but the keeper could only parry it wide with Alan and Mohammed sliding in at the far post but missing by inches in the 32nd min.
In the second half Chris Simpson was brought on to take Alans position up front who switched to right mid, Mohammed changed from right mid to centre back as the manager took off both central defenders Josh Burke and then Dan Wells to explain some positional play.
Ten mins into the second half (45th min), Chris Simpson had a shot go just wide, two minutes later Alan scored but it was deemed offside.
Things didn't seem to be happening for Chris up front so was then moved to right mid and Alan switched back to centre forward alongside Lee, Chris, almost immediately found his form on the right and with the industrious Ainsley St.Louis at left mid, started to cause un13sA some problems.
Right back Matthew O'Rourke was his usual accomplished self on the ball and left back Brandon Bedford was working hard and scored when one of his massive clearances from the halfway line sailed over the keeper and in on 55 mins for 4-0.
Alan and Lee combined again to produce the fifth goal in the 61st min when Alan passed through the defence for Lee to run onto and shoot past the keeper for his hat-trick.
The 63rd min saw the un13sA break through the defence but shot over the bar.
Chris scored for the un13s but it was ruled offside in the 67th min.
Un13s keeper Shane Watson had to be on his toes in the last minute as he had to come off his line and make a brave save.

Margate were by far the better side in this friendly match and kept Thanet in their own half for much of the game.Margate started slowly but gradually got a stranglehold on this fixture.
The 8th min saw a Margate corner end in a goalmouth scramble that Thanet managed to clear, 2 mins later, another goalmouth scramble but at the other end saw Thanet go 1-0 up.
Margate's captain,Dan Wells, saw his speculative shot go just over the bar from 40yds in the 14th min. Margate then started to play some good football,on 17 mins Luke Calder scored but his effort was ruled offside before he put the ball in the net,2 mins later Ainsley Adams pulled his 20yd shot just wide.
On 21 mins Margate were finally rewarded for their sustained pressure when Thanet scored an own goal after a corner, 5 mins later Dan Beresford had two efforts from the edge of the area go over the bar.
Lee Mills and Luke Calder were combining well with each other up front,a good angled pass forward from Lee to Luke was just nicked off his toe as he was about to put the ball in the net but a minute later Lee poked in from close range following a Margate corner to make it 2-1on 29 mins.
Lewis Stevens was having a good game in the centre midfield for Margate setting up most of Margates attacks with some good passing and had a shot go narrowly wide from the edge of the area on 30 mins.
Ainsley St.Louis(right mid) and Ainsley Adams(left mid) were linking up well with margates front two. On 35 mins Ainsley Adams turned a defender and shot just wide, 2 mins later Dan Beresford saw a good turn and shot go wide.
The start of the second half saw Margate continue to boss the game, central defenders Dan Wells and Josh Burke were first to most of the balls that came their way and with Mathew O'Rourke(right back) and Brandon Bedford(left back) were intelligently playing the ball out of defence.
On the 40th min Lewis went on a good run, forward from midfield, passed to Ainsley Adams who passed forward to Dan Beresford who shot narrowly wide, one min later Ainsley had an overhead kick well saved.
The 42nd min saw Lewis get behind the Thanet defence and put in a low cross that was narrowly being put into the net by Luke Calder at the far post, 2 mins later,a good team move saw Lee Mills put his shot narrowly wide.
Margate were really starting to put some impressive moves together but with the score staying at 2-1 to Margate, you couldn't help but feel that they were going to rue a hatful of missed chances.
On the 59th min Thanet got through one on one with Margate keeper Shane Watson who pulled off an excellent double save to thwart Thanet,at the other end 4 mins later, a good passing move forward involving most of the Margate team culminated in a curling shot by Lewis go inches wide.
Virtually the last minute saw Margate rue all those missed chances as a ball was put through the Margate defence who thought,as did the keeper who hesitated in coming out, that the Thanet player was miles offside and they duly scored to level the match at 2-2.
This was a much, much better Margate performance.Well done lads.

This was Margates first game as under 13s allbeit a friendly, a very hot day, concrete pitch and lines marked out with cones, this was not a very good performance. Because of the weather and it being a friendly, it was decided to split the game into four, fifteen minute quarters so that the players could have regular re hydration.
The first quarter saw Margate going two goals down on the 8th and 10th min, each time the ball being sent long over the central defenders heads for the Tyler Hill forwards to run onto and easily score.
Margate had numerous shots on goal but none were on target which was to be the pattern of the game for Margate along with being too quiet, not communicating with each other and going for glory when other players were in a better position to score.
The second quarter was much the same except that Margates passing and movement improved.
Tyler Hill were still cutting through Margates defence with relative ease and added to their score on 28mins.
It must be said that part of the blame for this performance must lie with the manager who swapped players positions around to see how they would cope.
Ainsley Adams scored Margates goal in the third quarter after some good work down the left and slotting in at the near post.
Margate went 4-1 down in the last quarter after a goalmouth scramble and could have conceded another if it wasn't for an excellent double save from keeper Shane Watson.
Margate were in too much of a hurry to get the ball forward today, too many over-hit passes, woeful shooting and allowing Tyler Hill to get to the ball first for the majority of the game.
Margate team :- S.Watson, M.O'Rourke, D.Wells, J.Burke, B.Bedford, C.Simpson, L.Calder, A.St Louis,
L.Stevens, D.Beresford, A.Adams, L.Mills, D.Weaver.
