Margate FC Women and Deal Town Women are set to kick-off their pre-season campaign on Saturday, 8th July at 12pm. Both teams will be eager to showcase their new signings and build on their previous successes last season.

Margate FC Women had a commendable season last year, reaching the semi-final and in the Women’s League Cup and finishing in an impressive 3rd place in the Premier Division of the South East Counties Women’s Football League.

With the addition of new signings, the Blues will be aiming to strengthen their squad and build on the foundations laid in the 2022/23 season.

Deal Town Women will also be looking to make a statement in this pre-season encounter, themselves having been promoted last season.

The match promises to be an exciting contest, with both team’s keen to make an early impression. Margate FC Women will be looking to continue their momentum from last season. As the players take to the field for their first pre-season fixture, all eyes will be on the new signings as they aim to make an immediate impact and impress their respective managers.

By scheduling the women's match as a lead-up to the men's game at 3pm, the Women’s side have a unique opportunity to showcase and celebrate the incredible talent within our local women's football community. This allows the women's teams to shine on a bigger stage but also encourages more visibility, support, and recognition for women's football overall.

Kick-off for the Women's fixture is 12pm and with Free entry for all there's no reason to miss out on a fantastic afternoon of football at Hartsdown Park.


Women Start With A Win


In an exhilarating pre-season friendly match, Margate FC Women emerged victorious with a thrilling 4-3 win against Deal Town Women. The match marked an exciting start to Margate's pre-season campaign and showcased the talent and determination of both teams.

The game kicked off with high energy and enthusiasm from both sides, as they looked to make an early impression. Deal Town Women drew first blood with a well-worked goal, taking an early lead and putting Margate on the back foot.

Margate responded quickly, showing their resilience as Paige Godden found the back of the net to level the scores.

Deal Town Women, undeterred by Margate's equaliser, regained their composure and struck again, reclaiming the lead with a clinical finish. Once again, Margate showcased their fighting spirit and pulled level as Godden found the back of the net for a second time, keeping the match finely poised.

As the game progressed, the Blues began to assert themselves and seize control. Margate took the lead for the first time in the match, as new signing Rhyanna Bailey made her return to the ‘Gate with a goal.

Deal Town Women refused to give and they equalised shortly after, keeping the game in the balance.

With time running out and the scoreline delicately balanced at 3-3, both teams battled hard to find the decisive goal. Margate Women, spurred on by the incredible atmosphere, managed to break the deadlock. It was Godden who once again made her mark, completing a hat-trick with a stunning goal, securing the victory for Margate in dramatic fashion.

The match was not only a testament to the skill and determination of the players but also a demonstration of the support from the local community.

The match was sponsored by a charity called "Head in the Game," which aims to raise awareness about mental health and promote well-being through sport.
