Kingstonian (A) - 1st February 2023

Margate travel to the home of Tooting & Mitcham on Wednesday evening as they face Kingstonian in another huge fixture in the Isthmian Premier Division.

The game will be the first since the permanent appointment of Reece Prestedge as Manager and Ben Greenhalgh as his Assistant until the end of the 2022/23 season. As well as the appointment, the Blues head into the game having won three points on Saturday for the first time since November after a 3-1 win over Wingate & Finchley.

Both of these sides still find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle with the Blues 16th and the K’s 17th, however the ‘Gate have a five-point advantage over their hosts. The Blues moved onto 28 points on Saturday with their 3-1 win, whilst the K’s suffered a heavy 5-0 home defeat to high flying Bishop’s Stortford.

Heading into a new month will be a welcome relief for both of these sides, however the K’s maybe more so after losing four out of five league games in January, having conceded 14 goals in the month. Despite there being very few moments of joy for Kingstonian, their 1-0 win away at Enfield in January will be one of those highlights.

Blues boss Prestedge is likely to have to overcome this fixture without both Sam Blackman and Ade Cole who both the left the field on Saturday with injuries after they had both scored.

These two sides have already met this season after sharing the spoils in the opening day sunshine at Hartsdown Park as a 90th minute penalty from Greenhalgh rescued a point for the ‘Gate. In recent history, the Blues have struggled away at Kingstonian, having not won an away game against the K’s since January 2018 when the Blues recorded a 3-1 win.

Kick-off at Imperial Fields is 7:45pm, however if you can’t be there then you can stay right up to date on the Clubs official Twitter feed @margate_fc from 7:15pm
