Holloway Joins Gate Coaching Staff
Margate Football Club is delighted to announce former Player and Manager Craig Holloway returns to Hartsdown Park as part of Jay Saunders’ backroom staff.
Holloway re-joins his former club and team-mate in the role of Goalkeeper and First Team Coach.
As a player, Holloway rose through the ranks at Arsenal before making a move to Farnborough. Holloway knows the Kent circuit well, having played for Dartford, Welling and Ebbsfleet United.
Holloway will of course be no stranger to Margate supporters having made over 80 appearances for The Gate during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons.
Saunders revealed his delight at securing Holloway’s coaching services for the season.
“I’m really pleased to have Craig as part of my team of staff. I’ve known him for a very long time, I’ve played with him and believe he will be a valuable asset to me, the players and the club.”
“His knowledge, experience and character will really strengthen us as a group and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
The Margate squad commenced pre-season training on Saturday, ahead of this weekend’s first fixture against Welling United.
A tough first week awaits the players, as Saunders jells the group together.
“It was great to get the boys together at the weekend. It was a tough one in the heat, but everyone was in great spirits and we’re ready to get to work and prepare for the season.”
“It will be nice to return to Hartsdown Park this Saturday and for supporters to get their first glimpse of the new players we’ve brought in. At this very early stage, it is all about banking valuable minutes and getting a good run out and I’ve no doubt both sides will find it a productive afternoon.”
