MATCH PREVIEW / Aylesbury United (A) - 2nd September 2022
Aylesbury United (A) - 2nd September 2022
By Josh Cole
It’s FA Cup action for the Blues on Friday night as we begin our FA Cup campaign for this season with an away trip to Aylesbury United.
Last time out, the ‘Gate fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Cray Wanderers. Danny Bassett scored the only goal of the game in the 28th minute and rounded off a solid Cray performance. Manager Andy Drury was asked if the lack of goals is a concern for him this early in the season. “A little bit, we’re working on trying to bring one in, it’s hard at the moment, we are creating chances though like the other day we created five or six clear cut chances and had three good ones here in the last half hour and this is whilst we aren’t really playing well and it is disappointing that we only got one point from six over the bank holiday fixtures, but we’ll be back in training and preparing for Friday”.
This last result leaves Margate in 15th place with five points from five games, however the Blues are currently averaging a goal a game and a goal conceded a game.
Aylesbury United currently play in the Southern Football League Division One Central, where they sit in sixth with two wins, one draw and one loss. The Ducks lost their last league game 4-0 on Bank Holiday Monday.
The two sides last met in November 2020 in the final game before Covid stopped play. The Blues won the game 4-2 in the FA Trophy.
Kick-off is at 19:45 with tickets being priced at £9 for adults, £6 for concessions and £1 for u16s with an adult.
