Board Statement Football Postponement
The Club can confirm that this evening’s game at home to East Thurrock has been postponed as there is a potential COVID risk related to staff.
It is our duty of care to protect the players, staff and supporters of both teams and after a short discussion this afternoon both clubs agreed to postpone the game.
We understand the disappointment this has caused so close to the enforced National Lockdown and we were very much looking forward to the match. All supporters will be refunded for this match and Saturday's scheduled game against Haringey Borough.
We appreciate news of a National Lockdown and the subsequent postponement of football will have an impact upon peoples' lives. From our First Teams to our youth sides, a lot of hard work has been undertaken to ensure Hartsdown Park is a safe place to visit, stay active and enjoy the game we all love so much.
Whilst the suspension is bitterly disappointing, we have been here before and we will work hard to bounce back again. Discussions are already taking place for how we can stay in touch with supporters over the next four weeks utilising platforms such as Gate TV to make sure you know, whilst we can’t be together, Margate FC is here for you.
We will be keeping an eager eye on updates from the respective authorities and governing bodies and will circulate relevant news once we have accurate and confirmed details.
We hope everyone stays safe over the next few weeks and we look forward to welcoming you back to Hartsdown Park soon.
