Gate Progress In Isthmian Cup

Margate Ladies hosted Ramsgate women's team in this hotly anticipated Isthmian Women's Cup fixture at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday evening.

The game kicked off with Margate on the front foot and the visitors setting up sitting deep with plenty of players behind the ball looking to hit the Gate on a counter attack.

It took until the 22nd minute for Kara Richardson to break the deadlock against her former Club and doubled the lead just before the break with a fine finish.

The second half started with the blues confidently knocking the ball about and retaining good possession but it was from a set piece straight from the training ground that saw Lucy Paris score from 20 yards from a well worked short corner.

Kara Richardson bagged her hat-trick on 62 minutes as she outpaced the Rams defence to make it 4-0. Strike partner Harriet Woolston worked tirelessly upfront, although she didn't get on the scoresheet she could take credit for a couple of assists.

The back three of Becks Slevin, Lily Kemp and Kerry Grant along with keeper Lauren Watson were solid as a unit and never looked like conceding over the 90 mins.

Winger Shannon king tapped home the 5th after a goal mouth scramble and Jessica Laker scored her first goal for the team after coming on in the final 10 minutes with a sweet strike from the angle of the area to give Margate a well earned 6-0 victory and see them progress in the competition.

The team would like to thank every man, woman and child who came to support both teams in terrible conditions. Attendance on the night 239 along with best wishes and a speedy recovery to two Rams player who picked up injuries during the game.

Next up for Margate ladies is a 14:45 kick off this Sunday @HDP in the SECWFL as again we host the Ramsgate women's team.
