Kingstonian (A) - 6th April 2024

By Josh Cole

Margate face another crucial game, as we travel to play 21st placed Kingstonian, on Saturday for matchday #38!

Last time out, we drew 1-1 to Cray Wanderers at Hartsdown Park. Read the match report from that game by clicking here.

Destiny Oladipo is back and available for selection after serving his one-match suspension against Cray Wanderers!

OPPONENTS’ SEASON SO FAR:

After surviving the drop in 18th last season, The K’s were tipped by many, to be favourites for the drop in this campaign. They didn’t start off the season well, only picking up four points (one win and one draw) from their first seven games. A big 3-0 over Cray Wanderers still saw them at the bottom, but showed everyone they weren’t going to be pushed away easily. Two narrow 3-2 losses to Dulwich Hamlet and Enfield Town gave them confidence to go and beat Folkestone 3-0 at home. A bad spell came next. From their next fifteen games, Kingstonian only picked up three points, all coming the way of draws, against fellow relegation candidates. A 2-2 against Haringey Borough, another 2-2 against us at Hartsdown Park and a 0-0 away at Concord Rangers. They finally got a win, at home against Bognor Regis and they followed that up with a good point away from home at Enfield Town. Two big games came next, they lost to Cray Wanderers but managed to get a draw against Cheshunt to keep their hopes of survival up. Three losses on the bounce were a dagger to the heart, but they didn’t let it affect them as they went and best Dulwich Hamlet on home soil. Their last three games were all heavy defeats to Potters Bra, Hashtag United and Chatham leaving Kingstonian second to last.
