MATCH PREVIEW / Parkwood Rangers (H) - 7th April 2024
Parkwood Rangers (H) - 7th April 2024
By David Hansen
Margate Women will look to continue their fine form, as they take on Parkwood Rangers Ladies, in the SECWFL Premier Division at Hartsdown Park, with the opportunity to put some space between the ‘Gate and London Road, who are in 4th place.
The two sides met just over a month ago in the SECWFL Cup semi-final, where Margate ran out 4-1 winners to book their place in the final of the competition against Tonbridge Angels at the Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone.
Since then, the visitors have had a mixed bag in terms of results. A 1-0 loss against London Road at the Victory Academy, however, they bounced back with a superb 3-1 victory against XL Academy, allowing them to keep 5th place in the league, just ahead of Sittingbourne.
Margate have also played two games since the last meeting, scoring 11 goals and conceding none in the meantime. The ‘Gate beat Maidstone United away at the Gallagher Stadium, thanks to goals from Paige Godden, Becca Niblett and Emily Hall.
Most recently Margate earned a big victory at Hartsdown Park as they defeated Bromleians 8-0, to keep up the pace to the top two sides in the league, who have also been flying recently.

Players To watch:
For Parkwood we have chosen Chloe Jardine. Jardine has managed to score 4 goals this season in just 8 starts, whilst recording 3 player of the match performances along the way. Jardine scored last time out in Parkwood’s huge win against XL Academy. Jardine wasn’t present in the two sides last time out meaning she is an unknown entity heading into this weekends fixture.
For Margate we have chosen March player of the month Fleur Charman. Since Fleur’s inclusion in the side this season she has been a revelation down the right-hand side of the pitch. Fleur may not have the stats to back up her performance, opposition wingers know they are going to have a tough afternoon. Fleur possesses a high level of stamina meaning she can overlap the winger whilst also track back all afternoon! Fleur has been an integral part of the team this season and has really helped manager Steph Meek develop a tactic with brilliant attacking options out wide.
The match will take place at Hartsdown Park on Sunday 7 th April with kick-off at 3:00pm.
Tickets will be £2 for adults and £1 for concessions and can be purchased by clicking here.
