Andy Drury Announces Backroom Staff
Margate Football Club is delighted to announce that Manager Andy Drury has confirmed his backroom staff with the appointment of a new Assistant Manager and Goalkeeper Coach.
Firstly, the club would like to welcome James Scott to the club as Assistant Manager to Andy Drury. Scott is local to Thanet having spent 25 years in the area. The 36-year old has experience as a Youth Coach at Crystal Palace and AFC Wimbledon, where he was also Head of First Team Analysis.
Scott also enjoyed time at Balham FC where he helped the club achieve two promotions, as well as being First Team Coach at Tonbridge Angels alongside Steve McKimm, and was part of the coaching staff that won promotion with the Angels to the National League South in the Super Play-Off.
Scott has obtained his UEFA A coaching badge.
The Club also wish to welcome new Goalkeeper Coach George Howard. The 28-year-old coach was forced to retire from the professional game due to a life-threatening injury sustained whilst on holiday in South Africa in 2014. At the time, Howard was at Gillingham, having also featured for Charlton and Bromley.
After recovering, Howard set about earning his coaching badges, and has enjoyed stints as Goalkeeper Coach at both Chatham FC and Erith & Belvedere.
We would like to welcome both James and George to Hartsdown Park.
