Wood: "Great Desire In The Dressing Room"

Article by Josh Cole
Interview by Reece Hibbird

Nathan Wood is “enjoying his football” at Hartsdown Park. The midfielder joined the ‘Gate just over two months ago from Tonbridge Angels and says that “the boys, the fans and everyone involved with the club have been nothing but welcoming to me.”

Wood says that the Margate dressing room is in high spirits following back-to-back good performances against two teams that are up at the top of the league.

“Showing the desire, we had last week going into halftime at 2-0 and coming back and winning 3-2 was massive and shows the character and fight that the players in this dressing room have and then we carried this in to today (against Lewes) and I feel we really hurt them, especially on the counterattack”

Wood believes that all the pieces are beginning to fall into place at Hartsdown Park and the ‘Gate are aiming to “end the season strongly and take the form into next season”.

Wood also mentioned the struggles in the attacking third in the last three weeks, but talks about how much the attack has improved over the recent fixtures.

“I’d be more worried if we weren’t creating the chances, like three weeks ago when we all know we weren’t creating enough chances, especially as a forward line, we had to take that and look at it and think well why aren’t we creating the chances and I think we have put that thought into training, into matches and listened to what the gaffer has said to us”.

“Fair play and credit to the boys because we created some really good chances against Lewes, now the next step is to become more clinical”.

Nathan and the ‘Gate are back in action on Good Friday at 3pm as we face a trip to the North of London to take on Haringey Borough.

Supporters can book their place on the supporters mini-bus via email on serephina2001@yahoo.co.uk for £20 if you are a member and £25 if you aren’t a member of the Margate Supporters Club.
