Ladies Put On Five Star Performance

Margate Ladies were triumphant in an emphatic 5-0 victory against Glebe Fc Ladies away from home, in what could be a crucial game this season.

After a restructure in management and a break in fixtures, the ladies team travelled to Chislehurst to face Glebe FC who currently sit 9th in the league. The last time the teams faced each other at Hartsdown Park, Margate found themselves 2-0 down at half time but came out second half to steal a 4-2 victory.

The tables were turned this time with Margate ladies coming out of the blocks flying. Employing a new structure and focusing on game management the team looked dominant from kick off. Within six minutes Harriet Galloway netted the first goal beating the keeper on the near post. This was followed by another goal scored by Rebecca Niblett, her debut goal for Margate, taking the score line to 2-0 inside 13 minutes.

In the 25th minute Harriet made it 3-0 to the Blues, scoring her second goal from just outside the six yard box.

It was a very dominant first half for the Gate with possession being held mostly by the away team.

Starting the second half substitutions were made with JJ speller coming on for Paige Godden as Striker and Sandra Nightingale replacing Harriet Galloway in Midfield.

A scramble in the box, and a quick tap in from Rebecca Niblett took Margate Ladies to a 4-0 lead within the first five minutes of the second half.

Playing uphill the pace of play changed dramatically in the second half but Margate ladies continued to hold their position well and moved through the thirds as a unit continuing to test the ‘keeper who made some incredible saves!

A world class strike from Rebecca Niblett wide on the right wing, bagged her a hat-trick and Margate's fifth and final goal of the game.

With the game coming to a close Glebe picked up the tempo in the final ten but never managed to really trouble the Gate. Some simple but solid saves from keeper Lauren Montgomery secured Margate’s clean sheet.

The Blues return to action on Sunday as they welcome league leaders Dartford Ladies Development side to Hartsdown Park with kick-off scheduled for 2:30pm
