INTERVIEW / Jay Saunders gives his thoughts on Margates recent form.
Jay Saunders gives his thoughts on Margates recent form.
The Gate have enjoyed a turn in form of late, which has seen the team win four games from the last five. Manager Jay Saunders has been delighted with the recent form, and gave his thoughts:
“After a tough November it’s been great to get back to a good run of results. When we looked at the set of fixtures for December and saw Worthing and Folkestone in the mix, we knew we had to be at our best. Credit to the lads they pulled together and picked up some very important points. I think the team has shown what they are capable of when everyone is on it, and of course fit. This has been difficult recently, with injuries and Covid, this past month the squad has been stretched but everyone involved has stepped up”.
Looking at January it’s going to be a very challenging and busy month for the team, packing in a lot of games and no doubt Saunders will be utilising his whole squad. The manager’s thoughts turn immediately to Saturday’s trip to Leatherhead:
“Hopefully we can get a positive result at Leatherhead. It won’t be an easy game, they will fight for every point given their position, it will be tough, especially with a new manager going in there. But we’re confident and we want to keep this run going!”
With back to back away matches against Leatherhead and Potters Bar, the Gate return to HDP on 15thJanuary against Hornchurch. Up the Gate!
