Bluebirds Taking Flight In Senior Football

Margate Ladies are a few months into a new chapter under new management and Manager Evan Paris is relishing the experience in the Southern East Counties Women’s Football League.

Currently sitting third in the League behind Herne Bay and Maidstone United, Paris’ young side have adjusted well to making the step into senior football.

Speaking about their start to the 2018/19 campaign, Paris said:

“Managing Margate Ladies is a very exciting opportunity and a pleasure with the squad we have put together for the 2018 season.”

“Ten players from last season’s Under 18s team along with a few older more experienced players have given us a good balance and after five or six games, the team is showing encouraging signs and gelling together.”

With two victories, a draw and a loss in the League, there have been a number of cup games in a short space of time too, as Paris updates:

“With an early exit from the SSE Women’s FA Cup, the team started their new era in the South East Counties Women’s Football League on the road at Long. It was our first test and the Bluebirds didn’t disappoint winning 8-0.”

“We then had a 2-2 draw away to Faversham followed by a 3-1 victory in the Kent FA county cup away to Tonbridge Angels” 

“Our first home game of the season saw us host a very strong Herne Bay team who deserved the 3pts but a Score of 4-0 flattered them. We followed this with a trip to Bromley and a 4-3 win in the league against Glebe LFC was important to bounce back from the previous defeat. The ladies showed their character and resilience when up against a physical and well organised team.”

Sunday sees the team travel to Sidcup as they take on Cray Valley before an exciting home game on Sunday 14th October versus an unbeaten Maidstone United. 

The improvement Paris is seeing week in week out, means it’s an exciting time to be involved with the team and a big challenge to take on experience outfits in the League. 

“The girls are improving each week and with the superb support and backing from MFC, we are proud to be Margate Ladies.”

“We are privileged to play and train at Hartsdown Park, a pitch I’m sure that is only equalled by Maidstone at the Gallagher Stadium.”

“The women’s game is growing at an exceptional speed and as we look to establish ourselves, we hope to build a fan base to come along and support us at home games.” 

“With the passion, effort and pride shown by the team we will be a tough test for any visiting team to HDP.”
