MATCH REPORT / Goal Less Drought At Drizzly Hartsdown
Goal Less Drought At Drizzly Hartsdown
It was a damp, goal less contest at Hartsdown Park on Saturday afternoon as Margate hosted Harlow Town.
In challenging conditions, the match failed to ignite too many clear-cut opportunities throughout.
After a fairly even start, the best opportunity of the first half arrived with 25 minutes played.
A great cross by right-back Jack Paxman found Joe Taylor but his strong header fell into the arms of Bexon in the Harlow goal.
As the rain continued to pour, both sides sought the game’s opening goal but neither goalkeeper was troubled as half wore on.
Margate enjoyed longer spells of possession in the second half and looked the more likely to take the lead.
Frannie Collin, Alex Flisher and Tom Mills enjoyed a nice exchange of passes before finding Stephen Okoh in on goal but the Gate frontman failed to ask much of the keeper with his effort.
Defender Ben Swift also had an opportunity with a free-header from a Collin cross but his glancing effort went wide.
A hard-working Harlow side had a flurry of corners late on but could not find a winner as the Margate defence remained organised and compact.
The full-time whistle blew on a fairly forgettable 90 minutes with both sides taking home a point to build upon good results earlier in the week.
