Roberts Heads To Hartsdown Park
Margate Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Philip Roberts.
The 28-year old started his career with Arsenal before a career in Scotland followed having played for Inverness and Falkirk. The striker also enjoyed spells at Dundee and Alloa Athletic.
As well as his time in Scotland, Roberts made several appearances for the Republic of Ireland youth sides, scoring for the ROI U17’s before making the step up to the U19’s side.
Most recently Roberts has returned to England where he has enjoyed spells with Chelmsford, Hemel Hempstead, Welling United and Dartford.
Joint manager Ben Greenhalgh said it was pleasing to get a deal done for a talented Roberts.
“We’ve got four main targets, Phil is the first one that we have been able to speak to and we are awaiting seven day approaches to speak to the other three next week.”
“Phil has an incredible CV and he’s the first player with plenty of experience that we can add into our squad. I played with Phil in Inverness and at Dartford where on his day he was unplayable. Reece also spent time with him at Hemel so when we put our heads together he was the perfect second signing after Harrison Hatful last week.”
“We’ll need to get his match fitness up as he’s only been training this season awaiting for the right opportunity but I’m really excited to see him in a Margate shirt. Phil will be available to play a part for us today and hopefully he can give the home fans a taste of what he has to offer.”
We would like to welcome Philip to Hartsdown Park.
