MATCH PREVIEW / Carshalton Athletic (A) - 9th April 2022
Carshalton Athletic (A) - 9th April 2022
Margate travel to Colston Avenue on Saturday to face Carshalton Athletic, looking to end a run of four straight defeats in all competitions.
Jay Saunders side were knocked out of the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday evening 4-2 by current holders Dartford FC, however consecutive league defeats before that have seen the Blues drop to 9th in the Isthmian Premier Division.
Saturdays opposition have also seen their play-off hopes ended recently having only won once in their last ten fixtures. Carshalton currently sit directly one place below Margate, but two points adrift of the ‘Gate.
The Robins come into this fixture on the back of a 1-1 draw at Kingstonian, which helped morale after a crushing 5-0 defeat to Hornchurch the game previously.
Remarkably, due to COVID interruptions, this will be the Blues first visit to Colston Avenue since October 2018, when a Frannie Collin and Joe Taylor strike each was enough to earn the ‘Gate a 2-1 win. The two sides have met twice already this season, both at Hartsdown Park.
The first saw the sides play out a 0-0 draw in August, the second saw the Blues hit the Robins for four as the ‘Gate ran out 4-1 winners in the Velocity Trophy Quarter-Final in March.
Kick-off at Colston Avenue is 3pm, but as always if you can’t be there then you can stay right up to date on the clubs official Twitter feed @margate_fc from 2:30pm.
