Leatherhead (A) - 8th February 2022

Margate travel to Fetcham Grove on Tuesday evening as they face Leatherhead in the Isthmian Premier Division.

The Blues make the trip to Surrey on the back of Saturday’s last gasp winner by Lewis Knight in a 1-0 win over Horsham, which moved the Blues to within seven points of the play-off places in the current league standings.

Leatherhead currently sit bottom of the Isthmian Premier Division on 17 points and come into the game on the back of a 1-0 loss to Cheshunt on Saturday.

Despite being the league’s basement side, the Tanners have seen an upturn in form since the arrival of new Manager Luke Tuffs and his recent signings, including highly rated Aaron Lamont from Kingstonian.

Despite Saturdays loss, recent results have included a 3-2 win over Haringey and a credible 0-0 draw with Bishops Stortford.

‘Gate fans travelling tonight could recognise three of the current home squad as it does include former ‘Gate players Jake Embery, Archie Burnett and James O’Halloran who featured for the Blues under Steve Watt.

When these sides mat at Hartsdown Park in September it was the ‘Gate who piled more misery on the then Nikki Bull’s side as they ran out 4-2 winners thanks to goals from the recently departed Dan Thompson alongside James Bessey-Saldanha, Ben Greenhalgh and Vance Bola.

Of course, Gate fans have already travelled to Fetcham Grove in January only for the game to be postponed late in the day, however they probably won’t have many memories of this fixture last season as it finished 0-0.

Manager Jay Saunders could make changes from Saturday’s win to keep things fresh as games continue to come thick and fast throughout the month of February.

Kick off at Fetcham Grove is 7:45pm, however if you can’t make it then you can stay right up to date on our own Twitter feed @margate_fc from 7:30pm.
