Potters Bar Town (A) - 10th December 2022

Margate travel to Hertfordshire again on Saturday as they face Potters Bar Town in the Isthmian Premier Division looking to make it eight games unbeaten in all competitions.

The ‘Gate made it seven unbeaten after a hard fought 0-0 draw at home to Billericay last Friday evening, and they will be looking to extend the run against Potters Bar, who currently sit 3rd in the league standings after a strong start to the season.

‘The Scholars’ were rocked two weeks ago though by the departure of Manager Sammy Moore who joined Isthmian South East side Faversham Town. The hosts have since placed former Margate Midfielder Lee Protheroe in charge, after a spell as Moore’s first team coach.

Town have also lost their captain Frazer Shaw who followed Moore to Salters Lane, however they added Defenders Joe Russell from Welwyn Garden City and Owen Cochrane from Stevenage on a one-month loan on Friday lunchtime.

Manager Andy Drury will be without Ade Cole who will serve the second of his three match suspension, as well as Taylor Fisher (collarbone) as he awaits further news on the injury sustained at home to Billericay Town last Friday.

The ‘Gate will be looking for an improvement on their last visit to ‘The Scholars’ which ended in a 2-0 defeat last March, before also suffering a 1-0 home defeat in April. The Blues have an indifferent run of recent form against Saturday’s hosts having not beaten them since December 2018 when they won 2-1 in Hertfordshire. The ‘Blues only other win was also away in the Emirates FA Cup in September 2016, when two divisions separated the sides and Margate strolled to a 5-1 win.

A reminder that there will be a 9am pitch inspection with a heavy frost expected once again overnight. Should the game get the go ahead then kick-off will be 1pm, with supporters unable to attend able to keep up to date via Twitter from 12:30pm.
