Seaden: "We Lacked A Cutting Edge"

By David Hansen

Interview by Riley Finch

Margate goalkeeper Harry Seaden said the team lacked a “cutting edge” and that it “feels like a loss” after Margate drew 1-1 with Haringey Borough on Tuesday Evening at Hartsdown Park.

“It's the cutting edge really, the fine line between winning ugly and taking a draw, it feels like a loss tonight if I'm being honest, the boys are really gutted in there, but ultimately this is football, so we go again next week.”

When asked about how the defence performed Seaden said it has been “really good” and “the boys have been excellent as well as the change in formation has really helped.”

“Yeah, it's been good, and the boys in front of me have been excellent and obviously the change in formation has really helped to prevent crosses from wide areas which was area we needed to improve on, and with Lewis Knight coming in with is height has also really helped.”

Seaden said he was “Buzzing” for defender Harry Hudson after his goal gave Margate the lead in the 48th minute and said that he is a “great servant to the club and he’s a great lad.”

Seaden was asked about his vocalism in between the sticks and said how he has “played that way his whole life from the youth setup." and that it's something he has always done.

“I've played that way my whole life, in terms of when I was back in the youth setup and people really like a goalkeeper who is vocal, hopefully its helpful to keep the defence in line as well as further in front. The manager wants that from me as well, to be dominant in my area and dominant with my communication, so that’s what I can provide.”

With Margate in action again on Saturday against Dulwich Hamlet, Seaden said how “it's a big game” and that “anyone can beat anyone in this league.”

“It's a big game, every game is a big game to be honest, anyone can beat anyone in this league as you can see from tonight with Haringey bottom of the league and put up a good fight, they obviously aren’t the best side, but they know how to play, but Dulwich is a different kettle of fish we will take it how it is, train on Thursday and work towards it.”
