The 19-year-old joins Hartsdown Park on a work-experience contract until the start of January.
Stewart has been a Shrimper from Under 14s level, having previously enjoyed three seasons at Wandsworth Town.
Stewart has completed a scholarship with the Essex side and featured over 50 times for the club’s Under 18s team.
More recently, Stewart was appointed the team’s Vice-Captain leading Southend to win the Merit League One title in 2018/19.
The promising youngster is described as a “stylish central midfielder” and will be available for selection ahead of Saturday’s trip to Haringey Borough.
