Corinthian Casuals (A) - 11th October 2022

By Josh Cole

The Blues return to League action on Tuesday night as they travel to Leatherhead FC to face Corinthian Casuals in the Isthmian Premier League, due to storm damage at their own ground.

The ‘Gate are looking to bounce back from their Isuzu FA Trophy defeat away at Billericay Town on Saturday, which leaves the Blues with just one win in their last six games in all competitions.

Corinthian Casuals were also knocked out at the first time of asking at the hands of Harrow Borough, where the game ended 2-2 and was forced to penalties where Harrow won 3-1 on spot-kicks.

On Monday Casuals decided to part ways with manager Tony Reid after only arriving in the summer. In charge of the hosts tonight will be Brian Adamson on an interim basis.

Margate will be without the suspended Lewis Knight and injured Troy Howard, while a doubt remains over Harrison Hatfull who left the field injured in Saturday’s defeat. The ‘Gate will be able to welcome back Midfielder Cameron Brodie into the squad after he was unavailable at the New Lodge.

The current Isthmian Premier Division standings see Margate sat in 15th with two wins, three draws, and four losses (nine points) whereas our opponents Corinthian sit bottom (22nd) with one win, two draws and six losses (five points).

Last season in this fixture, Corinthian came out 3-1 victors with goals coming from Bobby Mills (12th minute), a Lewis Knight Own Goal (26th minute) and Warren Mfula (40th minute). Ben Greenhalgh would get one back in the 61st minute but ultimately to not prevail.

Back at Hartsdown Park however, it was Margate’s turn to win 3-1 with goals coming from Sam Blackman (26th minute), with Alfie Bendle equalising before Ken Feyi scored to make it 2-1 (76th minute) and a last minute Greenhalgh goal to secure the three points (90+5).
