Concord Rangers (H) - 13th January 2024

By Josh Cole

Back at Hartsdown Park on Saturday as we welcome Concord Rangers for matchday #24 of the Isthmian Premier Division.

Last time out we conceded another goal in injury time which saw us lose away at Whitehawk 3-2. You can read the match report by clicking here.

With the news of our appeal for Ben Greenhalgh’s red card rejected yesterday, we will be without him for this game. We welcome back two players from their respective suspensions however, with captain Sam Blackman and Tyrone Sterling entering back into the fray. The new signings Francis Mampolo, Obed Yeboah and Ryan Lowe are all available to play against Concord!

OPPONENTS SEASON SO FAR:

With only 17 games played this season due to many postponements and problems with their pitch, it has been a tough year for Concord as they sit rock bottom of the table on 11 points. The former National League South side started the season terribly losing all seven games which included our 1-2 win under then manager Reece Prestedge. They finally got a win on the board in matchday #8 against Folkestone Invicta but went back to losing the next three games. Two wins, two draws and a loss out of their next five games installed confidence back into the squad but a defeat to local rivals Canvey Island on New Years Day was their last result in the league.

Away from home the Beach Boys have struggled sitting dead last in the away table with only one win on the road all season. Margate’s home form is a little better than the opposition’s away form as we are 15th in the home table with four wins, three draws and five losses.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been nine encounters between the two sides dating back to 2012 with Concord getting the better of the ‘Gate with six wins, Margate have two and one ended in a draw. As discussed earlier, when we met with Concord at the Aspect Arena in the 3rd game of the season, we beat them 1-2 meaning a win on Saturday can secure us the double over the Essex side.
