Craft Your Career Through Our Academy

Joining the Margate FC Football Academy is about more than just playing football, it is about opening doors to a future career in the beautiful game.

Football is big business across the globe with transferable skills used across the many departments within a club. In the UK alone, over 350,000 people work in the football sector with roles varying from marketing to finance and from coaching to psychology.

In the wider global market, the industry is worth over £445 billion and continues to grow at an annual rate of seven percent.

Within our academy we will provide the opportunity for students to achieve the necessary grades to allow them to access university courses that will take then directly into the football business. We have strong links with University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) a dedicated Football and Sports University. UCFB specialise in getting graduates into the Football and Sports sectors and have a proven track record with two in three graduates working professionally in the football industry.

Another route available to students would be to use their football ability to gain access to a Scholarship within the American College Sports system.

To achieve this, we work very closely with Sports Recruitment USA (SRUSA) who have an excellent record of getting athletes scholarships to play sport in America.

Jordy Robins is a product of the SRUSA system and currently starting centre midfielder for Margate First Team. Jordy attended NCAA University Niagara before transferring to Missouri State University where he successfully completed his degree in 2018. Jordy is a great example to young people of what can be achieve through the Scholarship route.

Player Pathway

Within the football academy we will offer young people the opportunity to play competitive football at a level commensurate to their ability.

We achieve this by running multiple teams across different competitions including the Schools League and National Youth Alliance; the highest level outside the professional game. During their time with us students will be trained by UEFA A and B licenced coaches, giving them the best opportunity to hone their skills and improve their game.

For students with the right ability and attitude the next step would be in Margate’s U23’s team which is the first progression point for playing for Margate FC First Team; currently competing in the Bostik Premier League.

At this point the player would earn a wage from playing football. Progression further would be possible for the truly talented and with our links to professional teams in the Premier League and Championship we would make recommendations for the player on a case by case basis.
