Margate suffered a 1-0 loss in West Sussex on Tuesday night against Bognor Regis Town.

Manager Reece Prestedge recalled Taylor Fisher to the starting line-up, whilst Harvey Smith led the frontline in the absence of the injured Phil Roberts.

It was the hosts that started the much brighter as they took the lead in the 5th minute after the Blues cleared a corner, but only to Florian Kastrati, who had only signed for the Rocks from Crawley that day to smash the ball home to make it 1-0.

Despite the early setback, Margate started to move the ball well, only to be denied in the final third as they struggled to find the service to feed Smith up top as the half ticked away towards half-time.

Margate were relieved just two minutes before the break though as Bognor forced the ball through to star striker Nathan Odokonyero who somehow managed to fire over with only Dan Jinadu to beat.

Odokonyero wasted another glorious opportunity at the start of the second half as Margate breathed another sigh of relief knowing they could be further behind, however they still only trailed 1-0.

Margate’s frustration grew further in the 67th minute as Defender Harry Hudson appeared to roll his ankle, leaving the defender to hobble off and be replaced by Peter Ojemen in the back four.

Despite trailing 1-0, there was belief that Margate could force something, and they saw a half change go begging as Soares-Junior saw his effort charged down as Margate continued to try and find the equalising goal.

There was to be one last half chance for the Blues as Emmanuel Oke cleared the goal from ten yards out with a fierce strike as the Rocks claimed the 1-0 win.
