Bognor Regis Town (H) - 20th January 2024

By Josh Cole

The season continues at Hartsdown Park as we take on Bognor Regis for matchday #25!

Due to the Cheshunt game getting postponed because of a frozen pitch, our last outing was last Saturday against Concord where we drew 1-1 at Hartsdown Park. Recap what happened in that match by reading the match report here.

Margate will assess the fitness of Sam Blackman before Saturday’s game after he suffered a calf strain along with breaking his little finger. We will be without Ben Greenhalgh as he continues to serve his 3-game suspension.

OPPONENTS SEASON SO FAR:

Bognor Regis have had a good season, sitting in the top half in 8th place on 36 points from 24 games. They started off the season losing away to Chatham 1-0. After that game they went five unbeaten with four draws and one win before losing 3-1 to a struggling Cheshunt side. Returning to good form they picked up seven points from their next three games before hitting a bad patch of form at the end of October sparked by a 4-1 away defeat to Hornchurch. After those three losses in a row, the Rocks got their swagger back and went on an incredible run only losing one game against Lewes. from the 11th November to the 13th January, which saw them shoot up to the table to where they lie now in 8th. During that run they won six games, drew four, including our 2-2 draw at Nyewood Lane.

Margate are in the bottom half of the table when it comes to results at home, picking up 16 points from 13 games at Hartsdown Park. Bognor are a little higher in 13th in the away table with 13 points from 13 games coming on the road.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

16 encounters between The ‘Gate and The Rocks since 2012 with Margate slightly on top with seven wins. Bognor have six wins and three draws. When we met at Nyewood Lane in late November this season, it was a thrilling 2-2 draw but unfortunately for Margate, after leading 1-2 from the 69th minute of the second half, an 88th minute leveller from Bognor thwarted the ‘Gate all three points.
