MATCH REPORT / U23's Suffer Heavy Hastings Defeat
U23's Suffer Heavy Hastings Defeat
Report by Paul Meade
This game would always be a difficult one knowing that this Hastings squad have been together throughout their youth time in to U23 level.
The task became even tougher with three players dropping out as we travelled, with illness and late work commitments.
However, the ten remaining players that started deserve massive credit in the way they continued their preparations in representing Margate FC, positive attitude and professionalism.
This was evident right from the start of the game with Zack Jobe hitting the post after good work on the left from George Hunt and Luca Radejevic.
Despite several chances being created by Hastings, they found a resilient defence in keeper Freddie Marsh young Leo Moore, Nathan Geddes and Luca.
The depleted ‘Gate had their own chances with Louie Procopi arriving at the far post but he could only hit his shot into the ground along with some long range efforts.
A fantastic first half ending in a terrific
0-0 display of courage and determination.
Hastings changed their formation at the start of the second half and this proved to be the difference scoring their first goal five minutes after the restart. This naturally knocked the young ‘Gate side and despite their best efforts goals continued to be scored at regular intervals culminating in a 6-0 final score.
A special mention must go out to central midfield captain Jack Miller who worked tirelessly in driving his players to the very end supported well by Robson Hulks and Louie Mirza.
Hastings also played this game in the right spirt with some outstanding passing and intelligent forward play and are a credit to their club and management team.
