Saunders Reflects On Open Trial
By Ryan Day
Margate Football Club hosted a successful open trial on Wednesday evening at the K Sports facility with over 30 players attending under the watchful eye of Margate first team manager Jay Saunders.
Players from all over Kent, including Thanet and as far away as North London attended a two hour open trial as Margate prepare for the 2019/20 season which starts with a pre-season schedule beginning in just over two weeks when Margate welcome National League South side Welling United to Hartsdown Park.
Margate Manager Saunders was impressed with the talent on show and says he will be looking to cast an eye over some of the trialists as Margate kick start their pre-season campaign.
“There was some really impressive trialists and has definitely given me some options moving forward with our first friendly just two weeks away”.
“It was great to see players travel for the opportunity to trial for our club and especially pleasing to have a variety of players from our own youth section”.
Saunders continued, “We can sometimes be surprised by the talent on show at these type of open trials and it is something we will certainly look to do again next season but we remain in the market for more players and pre-season allows us to try new things out and different players that we could use throughout the season”
Margate kick start their pre-season campaign on Saturday 6th July 2019 as they welcome National League South side Welling United to Hartsdown Park with kick off at 3pm.
