INTERVIEW / Daniel's Delight At HDP Return
Daniel's Delight At HDP Return
Sometimes a player and a football club just click. Earlier in the year, the introduction of Kadell Daniel at Hartsdown Park provided one such example of a perfect match.
Introduced to HDP as manager Jay Saunders’ first signing back in February, Daniel quickly became a fans’ favourite.
Attitude and application were matched by skill and success on the pitch, as Daniel’s instant impact helped Margate climb out of a relegation battle, whilst providing the former Dover player with valuable match action.
Supporters were pleasantly surprised by Daniel’s inclusion in pre-season team-sheets, and earlier this week, the popular winger re-joined The Gate – much to the delight of the Hartsdown faithful – and Daniel himself.
“They are probably as delighted as me. I am very excited to be back at the club and can’t wait for the season to start.”
Daniel's signature was highly sought after by a number of teams, as he revealed how last season’s spell at the club played a contributory factor in his decision to come back.
“My loan spell definitely helped, I just felt I wanted to enjoy my football which I did during the loan spell.”
“The fans were so supportive during that time and also playing under Jay who fills me with confidence.”
Daniel added, “It is rare to find a manager that trusts you fully and installs a huge confidence in me. I look forward to playing for Jay this season and helping him create a successful campaign for Margate.”
Saunders is assembling a young and ambitious squad which Daniel has slotted into seamlessly.
“The boys have all been welcoming and I knew a few from last year. I was very impressed with the squad. Everyone here is hungry and talented and overall the team spirit is vibrant!”
As the group gel together, the countdown to the new campaign fastens and Daniel is hoping to carry on building his rapport with supporters.
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. I just want to take it game by game, but I definitely want my fair share of fist pumps this year!”
“I’ve got off to a good start in this pre-season getting two goals in two games and that is what pre-season is all about for me, to get match fit and find my feet.”
“I literally wish the season was starting next weekend, but I know the next couple weeks of pre-season games are crucial for us to get off to a good start in the season opener.”
