INTERVIEW / Vaivada: "Attention Turns to Saturday"
Vaivada: "Attention Turns to Saturday"
Margate Midfielder Benas Vaivada insists that focus now shifts back onto league form, despite Margate securing a place at their first ever Velocity Trophy final on Tuesday night.
Vaivada scored the winner in a five goal thriller in North London against Haringey Borough, however the Midfielder says focus now turns to Bognor Regis Town on Saturday.
“We are taking things one game at a time so now the focus is on Bognor Regis Town on Saturday”.
Vaivada was a 76th minute substitute in the Semi-Final and says whilst it was hard to watch from the side-lines, it felt good to be the “game changer”.
“It was hard to watch from the side. It was end to end so it was a game I really wanted to play in from the start, but in the end I am pleased to be able to be the game changer and take us into the final”.
Having joined from Tower Hamlets in January, Vaivada has impressed, especially this month goals and assists but he says there is “more to come”.
“I am happy to be playing football. When you are happy playing then goals and assists happen but I know there is still more to come from me”.
Margate return to league action on Saturday away at Bognor Regis Town, and after two away defeats on the bounce in the league, Vaivada says Margate want to finish as high as possible.
“We take each game as it comes. We might just fall short in the play-off race so if that’s the case we want to finish 6th in the division”.
“We never look further ahead than the next game so all our focus will be on Bognor Regis Town on Saturday”.
Admitting that it “felt good” to score the goal that took Margate to the final, Vaivada heaped praise on the travelling Blues support that attended Tuesday night’s Semi-Final.
“I have never played in front of such great support. We really appreciate them travelling from Margate on a Tuesday night and I hope we can deliver some silverware come the end of the season”.
Vaivada is still available to sponsor for the 2021/22 season. To enquire please call 01843 221769.
