INTERVIEW / Daniel Demands More For Play Off Charge
Daniel Demands More For Play Off Charge
By Ryan Day
Margate striker Kadell Daniel admits that “disappointment” will be the overriding feeling amongst the squad if the Blues fail to mount a serious attack on this seasons Isthmian Premier League play-off places.
The Blues currently sit 15 points off the final play-off place but Daniel acknowledges that there are still plenty of points to play for this season.
“People know that in this division 15 points isn’t impossible because teams go on long runs and you chip away at that difference quickly. People will always remember teams that finish well as opposed to start well because they are the teams that are usually successful and grab a play-off place”.
“We will be 100% disappointed if we don’t attack the play-offs and I think we would have let ourselves, the Management and the fans down if we don’t”.
Daniel joined the Blues from Dover in the summer after spending time on loan at Hartsdown Park last season and playing for current Blues boss Jay Saunders had a huge role to play in that decision to head back to Hartsdown Park.
“Jay is a great manager to play for as he lets us play football the way that we know we can. We have let him down by not winning more games but I know that everyone is working their hardest to make sure we put it right”.
“We have got a very good team but we have just been too inconsistent and that comes a little but with experience but it’s hard to put your finger on why we have been so inconsistent”.
The ‘Gate return to League action on Saturday as hey welcome Haringey Borough to Hartsdown Park and Daniel predicts that supporters will see a side with more confidence after their 3-1 in the Velocity Trophy against Wingate & Finchley, where the striker netted twice.
“The Velocity Trophy is an important Trophy for us. We have been too inconsistent to be picking what competitions we take seriously; we want to win every game regardless of the competition or opposition”.
“Haringey will be a tough fixture but we have shown recently that we can do well against the teams that are doing well in this division”.
