MATCH PREVIEW / Bishop's Stortford (A) - 26th November 2022
Bishop's Stortford (A) - 26th November 2022
Margate travel to Hertfordshire on Saturday to face Bishop’s Stortford looking to make it six wins in a row in all competitions.
The Blues made it five wins from five on Tuesday evening as they progressed into the last eight of the Velocity Trophy after beating Folkestone Invicta 1-0, thanks to a goal from James Bessey-Saldanha.
The Blues have won two Isthmian Premier League fixtures in this run after beating Bognor Regis Town and Wingate & Finchley to leave them 14th in the League standings.
Saturday’s trip to Stortford on Saturday will be a tough test against a side that currently occupy a play-off place in the league standings. The hosts have lost just twice in their last ten league matches, only losing to Canvey Island and Hornchurch in that time, leaving them 4th in the league standings.
Whilst their league form is one to admire, Stortford exited the Isuzu FA Trophy last weekend as they lost 1-0 to Leamington. The hosts squad will include two familiar faces to the ‘Gate travelling faithful as former players Jay Porter and Matt Johnson currently play for Stortford.
Margate will still be without Troy Howard (ankle), however the return of Korrey Henry on Tuesday evening will be a relief for Manager Andy Drury. Ade Cole will be available before he serves a three game ban after being sent off on Tuesday evening.
Recent history between these two sides isn’t pleasant reading for the Blues having only won once in their last ten fixtures against each other. That win came for the Blues in September 2016 when both sides met in the Vanarama National League South with the ‘Gate winning 2-0.
Since that win, the ‘Gate have met Stortford eight times, losing five and drawing three.
Kick-off at the R & D Advisors UK Stadium is 3pm, however if you can’t be there then you can keep right up to date on our Twitter feed @margate_fc from 2:30pm.
