Cheshunt (A) - 29th December 2023

By Josh Cole

A second away day in three days as we travel to Cheshunt for some Friday night football in the Isthmian Premier Division.

Our last match against Cray Wanderers on Boxing Day was unfortunately abandoned in the 92nd minute after a Cray player suffered a head injury. We will update fans about the conclusion of that game when we receive an update.

Margate will continue to be without captain Sam Blackman as he serves his final game suspended however, Tyrone Sterling will be available as his suspension after being sent off at Cray Wanderers wont kick in until the Blues visit Whitehawk on Saturday 6th January 2024, if the Cray game is not required to be replayed.

OPPONENTS SEASON SO FAR

After being relegated last season from the National League South, The Ambers’ bad run continued into this season as from their first three games they only picked up one point. They then beat us 2-1 at Hartsdown Park, but fortunes didn’t change and they lost their next two games. The inconsistency continued for Cheshunt as they won against Bognor, lost to Cray Wanderers and beat Dulwich from their next three games. The next five games were rough, only picking up two points and suffering a 0-6 thrashing at the hands of Hornchurch. Form picked up as they beat Kingstonian and Carshalton also picking up a draw against Hashtag before losing their last two league games.

Cheshunt are 18th in the home form table with three wins, one draw and six losses whilst Margate continue to struggle on the road sitting 20th in the away form table with one win, two draws and six losses.
