Tribute To Terry Morris
Margate Football Club was saddened to learn of the passing of former player Terry Morris.
Terry was a much-loved striker who started his career with Ilford and was a part of West Ham’s junior set-up.
Having played for Cambridge City, Folkestone United and Woodford, Terry signed for Margate in 1966.
Terry made 18 first team appearances, scoring six times as The Gate won promotion from the Southern League Division One. Terry continued to become a firm fan favourite, accumulating appearances and further goals.
In 1968, Terry was appointed Player Manager. After a break from the game, Terry returned in 1970 coaching and playing at Hartsdown Park.
Terry then took a coaching role at Deal before returning to Margate in 1978/79 as First Team Manager.
A local living in Margate, Terry returned to Hartsdown Park as part of the club’s Legends Day in 2014 and was seen at several games during our current 2018/19 campaign.
The club held a minute’s applause ahead of kick-off for The Gate’s Kent derby against Folkestone, offering a poignant moment to celebrate the life of a true Blues legend.
