McCann Is A Blue
Margate Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Kieron McCann from Isthmian Premier Division rivals Folkestone Invicta.
The 30 year-old moves to Hartsdown Park having spent last season at The Fullicks Stadium with Invicta. McCann was a fans favourite at the club after originally signing from Sevenoaks in 2017.
McCann did leave the Amber and Black stripes briefly to join Cray Valley, however soon returned to the Fullicks Stadium where he built upon his 135 appearances and 21 goals he had made and scored before he joined Cray Valley, he eventually played 177 times for Invicta over the two spells.
During his time with Folkestone he won their goal of the season award for an incredible strike against Billericay Town during the 2017/18 season.
McCann will provide both experience and versatility across the Midfield as he can play central and on the wing, and Manager Andy Drury is delighted to capture his signing.
“Kieron is an exceptional talent at this level with plenty of experience. Having played alongside him at Folkestone last year I was able to see for myself how hard he works and how good he is”.
“Kieron will be a fantastic signing for us and I am so pleased that he has decided to join us here at Hartsdown Park whilst there were other offers on the table”.
The Club can also confirm the departure of Defender Crossley Lema. The full-back joined the club from Leatherhead last season and departs with the club’s best wishes for the future.
