Carshalton Athletic (A) - 31st October 2022

Margate return to Isthmian Premier Division action on Monday evening as they travel to the War Memorial Stadium to take on Carshalton Athletic.

The Blues were defeated 3-1 by high flying Hornchurch on Saturday at Hartsdown Park and will be looking to pick up points after two straight defeats in the league. The Robins, now managed by former Margate Midfielder Steve McKimm were knocked out of the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday as they were defeated 1-0 by Kings Langley.

In terms of league form, it has been an improved run of results for tonight’s opposition after winning three of their last four games in the league. In fact, other than Saturday’s Trophy defeat, the hosts have only lost one home game in the league so far.

Athletic have plenty of names to keep an eye on with former Margate player Calvin Ekpiteta and Crossley Lema now playing for the Robins, as well as former AFC Wimbledon Tom Beere. Steve McKimm will be without Kurtis Cumberbatch who serves a suspension.

Margate Manager Andy Drury will still be without Troy Howard (Ankle), whilst Harrison Hatfull (Dead leg) and James Bessey-Saldanha (illness) will be assesses ahead of kick-off. With the quick turnaround in games, Drury may use his squad with Fjord Rogers and new signing Ethan Kaiser in contention to start.

These two sides met three times last season, with Margate winning the Velocity Trophy clash at Hartsdown Park 4-1, however both league games finished 0-0. The last time Margate won away in this fixture was October 2018, when a Joe Taylor winner secured a 2-1 win for the ‘Gate.

Carshalton sit two places and one point above the Blues currently, however the hosts have two games in hand on the ‘Gate.

Kick-off is 7:45pm, however if you can’t be there then you can stay right up to date on the Blues Twitter @margate_fc from 7:30pm.
