AFC CROYDON ATHLETIC – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:

AFC Croydon are currently in 15th place on 32 points from 28 games. Their first game of the season came in the FA Cup extra preliminary round where they dispatched Guildford City 3-1 at home. In their first game of the league season, they played Ramsgate and lost 0-1 thanks to a last-minute goal. Then in the preliminary round of the FA Cup, they progressed further after beating VCD Athletic, 4-0.

The FA Cup form didn’t carry into the league as they continued winless through the next two games losing 2-1 to East Grinstead and drawing 1-1 to Beckenham. In the first qualifying round of the FA Cup, they were dumped out of the cup after losing 2-1 to Burgess Hill. More cup fixtures came next, in the Velocity Cup second round where they beat Rayners Lane 4-1 and in the FA Trophy first qualifying round, they beat Beaconsfield 1-0.

Two more bad league results followed the cup wins, drawing at home to Merstham 3-3, despite being 3-0 up in 24 minutes and then they lost the next game to Erith Town 3-0. Their run in the FA Trophy came to an end at the second qualifying round stage after losing to Uxbridge 2-1.

Finally, their league form picked up, unbeaten in their next 12 games, a run that lifted The Rams up into the top ten in the league and saw wins in the Surrey and London Senior Cups. A loss to Carshalton Athletic in the Velocity Cup third round ended this unbeaten streak and sent their league form into a downward spiral as they failed to win in their next five games.

After a 5-1 home win against Phoenix Sports, their recent form has been patchy with five losses out of ten including being knocked out of the London Senior Cup. Their last result was a 2-0 away loss against Hythe Town.
