Margate return to action this Saturday afternoon as we welcome Tonbridge Angels to Hartsdown Park for our first pre-season fixture of the summer. Kick-off is at 2:45pm, and supporters can look forward to an exciting test as preparations for the 2025/26 campaign ramp up.
This friendly encounter sees two familiar Kent rivals go head-to-head once more, with Tonbridge returning to Hartsdown Park after a number of memorable clashes over the years. The sides met last summer at Tonbridge where the National League South side beat the ‘Gate 3-1 in a pre-season clash.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s fixture, First Team Manager Ben Greenhalgh shared his thoughts on the opposition and the squad’s progress in pre-season:
“Tonbridge are always a strong, well-organised side and it’s a great test for us at this stage of pre-season. We’re still focusing on fitness and rhythm, but I’ve been pleased with the intensity in training. It’s also a good chance to give some of our younger players experience at this level.”
“The mood around the group is positive. The boys are sharp and motivated, and you’ll see more of our identity as these games come. We want to build momentum early, even in friendlies.”
