Margate make the Bank Holiday Monday trip to Kent rivals Ashford United, as they face the Nuts & Bolts at The Green Box Stadium in their third Isthmian South-East Division fixture of the season.
Both sides have experienced a tough start to their league campaigns, each picking up just a single point so far. However, Ashford have played three games to Margate’s two, and will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing weekend opener.
While Margate enjoyed cup success on Friday night—progressing to the next round of the Isuzu FA Trophy with a 2-0 away win at Egham Town—Ashford suffered a setback on Saturday, falling to a 3-1 defeat at Faversham Town.

This fixture took place over the same Bank Holiday weekend last season and ended in a hard-fought 2-2 draw. Margate took the lead through now-departed Harvey Brand before current Blues midfielder Max Walsh, then playing for Ashford, equalised just before half-time. An Ibrahim Olutade goal in the second half looked to have secured all three points for Margate, but Jack Saunders struck late to ensure a share of the spoils.
