Margate Football Club is delighted to welcome midfielder Henry Young back to Hartsdown Park.
The 19-year-old, who turns 20 later this week, is a product of the Blues’ youth system having joined at U16’s level after featuring at Gillingham from U8’s. He played a pivotal role in Margate’s Kent Senior Cup victory over Chatham Town at Priestfield Stadium. Young notably set up Nathan Wood’s goal in the 1-1 draw, with Margate eventually lifting the trophy after a dramatic penalty shootout.
Shortly after his 18th birthday, Young signed a contract with Dover Athletic, where he made 30 first-team appearances, scoring four goals. His time with the Whites also saw him captain their academy side to the Academy National League title, as well as a strong run to the Third Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup.
Young returns to Margate on a dual registration with National League South side Dover Athletic, and will be available for selection in Tuesday night’s Thanet Derby against Ramsgate in the GoCardless Kent Senior Cup.
