League action returns to Hartsdown Park this weekend as Margate Women look to secure their first SECWFL victory in what promises to be a competitive fixture against Betteshanger Welfare, who are new to the league this season. This will be the first ever senior meeting between the two sides.
While Margate Women are yet to play a league fixture, there’s a shared history at development level. Last season, Margate Development faced Betteshanger Welfare in two competitive fixtures — a thrilling 3-3 draw at Hartsdown Park and a 3-0 defeat away at Betteshanger Welfare Recreation Ground.
Betteshanger Welfare opened their campaign with a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Holland & Blair at Star Meadow. Lauren Farley scored twice for the hosts, while Maddy Evans netted Betteshanger’s only goal of the game.
Sunday’s match also marks a notable return to Hartsdown Park for former Margate player Alicia Conabeer, now lining up for the visitors.

Manager George Adams welcomes Sophie Manning and Eloise Parnham back into the matchday squad this week. However, the side will be without regulars Nicole Adams and Abbie Luby, who both featured in last week’s friendly against Maidstone United.
