Match Preview: Margate v Hassocks – Isthmian South-East

Margate welcome relegation threatened Hassocks to Hartsdown Park on Saturday, with the ‘Gate looking to make it five wins in a row in the Isthmian South-East Division.

Tuesday nights 2-0 win away at Beckenham Town equalled Margate’s best run so far this season, a result which leaves them still with an outside chance of making the play-offs, sitting six points behind Jersey Bulls in 5th place with six games remaining.

Saturday’s visitors are very much fighting for Isthmian South-East survival. The Mid Sussex side sit outside the relegation zone currently by one place, only on goal difference. Remarkably, they have given themselves hope in the past two weeks with impressive wins over Broadbridge Heath and VCD Athletic. Last weeks win over VCD Athletic saw them come from 3-1 down at half-time to win 4-3.

These two sides have met just once previously in history, the league fixture earlier this season. Margate fought back from 1-0 down to claim a 3-1 win in Sussex in January with goals from TT Walters, Kane Haysman and Ben Greenhalgh.

Greenhalgh made three changes to the side  that won at Beckenham Town on Tuesday with starts for Walters, Haysman and Ronnie Vint, and he could decide to stick to that winning formula again this weekend.

With Non-League Day being celebrated, Food and Drink offers will be available from 1:30pm whilst a bucket collection will take place to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Kick-off at Hartsdown Park is scheduled for 3pm.
