Margate make the trip to Surrey on Saturday to kick-start their decisive Easter weekend in the Isthmian South-East Division.
Five wins on the bounce in March has given Ben Greenhalgh’s side a feint chance of reaching the play-offs, however this weekend will go a long way to deciding their fate.
First up, the Blues face an in-form AFC Whyteleafe on Saturday who have remarkably won their last eight games in a row to sit third in the league table, and still with an outside chance of winning the league title, however Three Bridges win on Good Friday almost eliminates that hope.
In that eight game winning streak, Saturday’s hosts have been in fine scoring form having netted 31 times in those eight games.
Something will surely have to give on Saturday with the ‘Leafe’ unbeaten at home since 10th January 2026 when they lost 2-1 at home to Sittingbourne, whilst the ‘Gate have just one defeat in their last thirteen away matches, a 3-0 defeat at league leaders and Champions elect Three Bridges in December 2025.
Saturday will also mark a huge achievement for player-manager Ben Greenhalgh who wil make his 250th appearance for the ‘Gate, cementing himself into the history books at Hartsdown Park.
In their current guise as AFC Whyteleafe this will be the two sides second meeting, the first Margate’s 4-2 win at Hartsdown Park earlier this season as goals from Greenhalgh, Ibrahim Olutade, Harry Hudson and Jack Peters secured a fine win. There were also two meetings as Whyteleafe in the FA Trophy which Margate won both 2-1 and 5-1.
Margate will play in their away strip for this fixture which is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm.
