Margate travel to East Grinstead for their final game of the 2025/26 season against the Isthmian South-East’s Divisions basement side.
The ‘Gate have enjoyed an almost perfect end to the season, however will ultimately miss out on their pre-season aims of a play-off place. Eight wins from their last nine games, and just four goals conceded in that time have built hope and excitement ahead of the 2026/27 campaign however.
Saturday’s hosts have endured a nightmare season. The Wasps are sat rock bottom with just six points after 41 games, and have the leakiest defence by far having conceded 158 goals so far, and have only scored 29, leaving them with a -129 goal difference going into the final day.
The last of those six points came back in March when they earned one point in a 2-2 draw with VCD Athletic. Their only league win this season came in September when they won 1-0 away at Hassocks.
When these two sides met at Hartsdown Park in November it was the Blues that eventually strolled to a 5-1 win, thanks largely to an Ibrahim Olutade hat-trick.
History between these two sides favours the ‘Gate. Having met five times, Margate have won four and drawn once, that draw coming at the start of the 2024/25 season when they drew 0-0 in a frustrating afternoon for the Blues.
In terms of team news, Manager Ben Greenhalgh could give striker Louie Atkins further minutes after his goal last week as he continues his recovery from injury. Gabriel Duo is edging closer to a return to the squad and could feature today, whilst otherwise Greenhalgh will be pleased to have a full squad to choose from.
If selected, two more players will hit milestones for the ‘Gate this afternoon. Harrison Hatfull will make his 200th appearance for the ‘Gate, whilst Lewis Knight will also celebrate his 150th game for the Blues.
Kick-off at The Vistavis Community Stadium is scheduled for 3pm.
