Two Goal Huke Helps ‘Gate To Three Points

Margate kickstarted October with an impressive 3-2 away win at Peacehaven & Telscombe thanks to a brace from Ryan Huke in Sussex.

The ‘Gate were missing several key players with Finn O’Mara, Mikey Dalton, Perri Iandolo, Olu Oluwatimilehin and Will Thomas all missing.

There was a debut for loanee signing Stanley Oldfield, whilst Hassan Nalbant led the line again after his debut goal at home to Merstham in the Velocity Cup.

Margate started in electric form as they took the lead in the 8th minute as Michael Ademiluyi intercepted the ball in the middle before playing it to Nalbant who laid it into the path of Bradley Schafer who superbly drilled the ball into the bottom corner.

Before Margate fans could catch their breath they were celebrating a second as Nalbant raced down the left before squaring to Huke who tapped home for a Blues second within 11 minutes.

Harry Seaden pulled off an incredible save to tip a free-kick onto the bar in the 36th minute, however the hosts reduced the arrears two minutes later as Harry Parker headed home to make it 2-1 at the break.

The second half started with the hosts looking the brighter, however Seaden was matching everything thrown at him, whilst the backline were also resolute in keeping the home side at bay.

Margate still looked dangerous when going forward as a goalmouth scramble from a corner almost brought a third goal.

With both sides looking increasingly threatening, Margate snatched all three points in the 74th minute as a long forward pass from Oldfield fell into the path of Huke who superbly guided it over the home sides keeper to make it 3-1.

Schafer almost added a fourth in thw 89th minute, however after seven minutes added time were added, the home side netted a goal in the 98th minute as a ball across the box was prodded home by Cal Edwards to give the scoreline a tighter look to it than it was.
