Match Preview: AFC Croydon Athletic v Margate – Isthmian South-East Division

Margate travel to The Mayfield Stadium to face AFC Croydon Athletic on Saturday looking to build upon last weekend’s 3-2 away win at Peacehaven & Telscombe.

As well as last week’s three points, the Blues will be further boosted by the availability of Finn O’Mara, Will Thomas, Olu Oluwatimilehin, Perri Iandolo and Javaun Splatt who all missed the win in Sussex.

Margate will be further boosted by the arrival of new signing Elliott Duncan in attack after he signed from Crowborough Athletic on Monday, adding further firepower to the ‘Gate’s attacking line-up.

There is some bad news on the injury front for the ‘Gate though as Mikey Dalton remains injured, whilst Connor Wilkins is also likely to be out after picking up an injury in training.

The ‘Gate come up against an AFC Croydon side that will be desperate to get back on form after a disappointing few weeks. After a positive start to the season, the Rams have lost their last three in all competitions, including a 7-1 away defeat at Waltham Abbey in the FA Trophy.

Their latest disappointment came on Tuesday night as they suffered a 2-0 away defeat at Whitstable Town.

One caveat to their recent form is their three defeats have all been on the road. Their form at The Mayfield Stadium has seen them win six of their seven home games so far in all competitions this season.

History between these two sides in their current format has seen Margate win just once from their four meetings, a 2-1 away win at The Mayfield last season thanks to a TT Walters double.

The ‘Gate have lost two and drawn the other fixture.

Kick-off at The Mayfield Stadium is scheduled for 3pm. Margate will be playing in their blue kit for this fixture.
