Margate make the trip down the M2 tonight to face last season’s beaten Isthmian South-East play-off finalists Sittingbourne in their second league fixture of the 2025/26 campaign.
The ‘Gate began their season on Saturday with a 1-1 home draw against league newcomers Jersey Bulls, Sam Blackman’s second-half strike cancelling out the visitors’ opener.
Sittingbourne, meanwhile, made a strong start with a 3-1 away win at Deal Town, underlining why they remain one of the division’s most dangerous sides.
Manager Ben Greenhalgh is boosted by the return of striker Ibrahim Olutade, while midfielder Brandon Davey is back in contention after regaining full fitness. Davey featured from the bench in Saturday’s opener.
The Brickies had Margate’s number last season, completing a league double with back-to-back 3-0 victories in February and March. Tonight’s challenge is steep: Sittingbourne went the entire 2024/25 league campaign unbeaten at home, conceding just 11 goals at the Staxson Stadium. Their last home league defeat came on the final day of the 2023/24 season, a 2-1 loss to Three Bridges.
