Twelfth Man Initiative Launches

Back the boys, back Jay and back The Gate by taking part in our 12th Man initiative.

For the 2019/20 season we will be launching a 12th Man scheme with the sole objective to raise extra funds for the playing budget.

As a club we recognise that our loyal supporters already make a huge contribution, and this is greatly appreciated. The 12th Man scheme is just another opportunity for the whole community to help further, if people are in a position to do so, really getting behind Jay and the squad.

Key features of the scheme:

- Money raised by the 12th Man does not replace any money already allocated by the club for the playing budget

- All money raised will be ring-fenced to spend on players and will never be used for any other means

- Complete transparency between the fans that donate to the scheme and club

Manager Jay Saunders hopes the 12th Man initiative will draw the club closer with supporters.

“Throughout my time as a player and more recently as Margate Manager, I know first-hand how passionate and loyal our supporter base is. This is an opportunity for fans to play a crucial part in helping develop our squad.”

“We’ve built an exciting, talented, young group and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead. Any contribution a supporter or business makes will enable us to strengthen and invest where we need it the most.”

Saunders added, “I’d like to thank our fans for their support and encouragement throughout a positive pre-season and extend that thanks in advance to anyone who takes part in this initiative. It is appreciated by myself, my coaching staff and those involved with the football club.”

So how can you get involved?

You can pledge by direct debit for a maximum period of 9 months, but you can join at any point during the season. The minimum donation by DD is £2 per month, but can select £5, £10, £15 or £20 a month if you wish. Payments are taken through Gocardless*.

Do you know someone who runs a local business? Could you get them involved?

To help the scheme grow quickly, the challenge for anyone who signs up to the 12th Man, is to bring a business. Businesses can join the scheme for a minimum of just £10 per month.

All businesses who join the scheme will benefit from regular social media coverage and an article in our match day magazine. The links above can be used for business sign up as well.

*first payment will be taken on 3rd September, then the 3rd of each month thereafter, up to and including 3rd May 2020. Direct debits must be set up by the 22nd of the month to be included in the next direct debit run.
